題目:屬於我的故事
My journey started as I stepped foot onto the campus of Tunghai elementary. My first visit was ages before I studied here, Tunghai had always been a place where I felt comfortable. The lush landscape and beautiful trees created a soothing atmosphere. Completed by the hardworking students with ambitions and dreams beyond imagination. It is a pleasure to be part of this team of talented scholars, and having the chance to prosper.
I’ve always been a “procrastinator”, never on time with any assignments. It didn’t matter to me if I passed or not, I simply just didn’t care. Sometime in 3rd grade, something snapped in me, I had been wasting my valuable time. I felt conscious for the first time in so long, it was like a stone dropping into a lake of stale water. The sole purpose I came here is to study english! I wasted no time. Work books, Homework sheets were soon filled with my sweat and tears. All the school members had supported me through my struggles and helped me develop as an individual. During class, I always answered the questions and did my best on tests. I still remember staying at recess, craving for more and more knowledge. My teacher was patient and made sure that I had understood all the concepts. Practice makes progress, I was soon excelling academically.
Just another ordinary day I thought, but it was the start of a conquest, much greater than I could imagine. I was called over by the teachers when the bell rang. They informed me about a competition, one that would gather all the great talents of the city. I was hesitant at first, but this was my opportunity to prove my ability. I can’t let this slip away! The stage is somewhere you can express how you feel, at the same time, it makes you tremble. I often stutter when I talk, and that is a big problem for someone who’s going to perform. There are many factors making it very difficult for one to build confidence, but I had managed to deal with it with lots of courage and determination. It wasn’t a one man mission, my teachers accompanied me through every step. The competition was approaching, and I was well prepared.
Number 44… It was my turn. The people before me had all made great impressions. My heart sank, it was all or nothing. My legs were shaking like crazy, but I kept composure. Emphasis and the art of intonations were my upper hand. The judges were smiling throughout my performance. I was unstoppable.
It was time to announce the winners. My heart was pounding, I could hear the silence. Congrats to first place…number 44! A euphoric feeling rushed through my body. I was filled to the brim with joy and excitement. Definitely something I will remember on my death bed.
Tunghai had not only taught me academics, but lots of the valuable lessons were about how to act. I was a problematic child. Making weird sounds, not doing assignments or not following any of the rules were daily occurrences. I’m so glad that the teachers had not given up on me, I’m only me because of them. They knew I had it in me to change for the better, and I did.
Tunghai, a beautiful campus thats home to memories of many. A core memory of mine.
